Lenka Kubelová completed her residency at Matadero Madrid
Lenka Kubelová explores themes of fermentation and biocultural hope in her artistic practice. She holds degrees from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University and the Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied in the studio of Vladimír Kokolia. A passionate walker, she draws inspiration from the landscape and works as both a community centre lecturer and a freelance editor. She is also part of the programming team for Take Care, a festival focused on ecological transition.
During her residency at Matadero Madrid in May and June 2025, Lenka developed a vibrant palette of "kitchen inks" - homemade pigments derived from vegetables, fruits, spices, and kitchen waste. Her drawings focused on metabolic processes, exploring questions such as: How do we digest? How are human organs similar to those of plants or even the Earth itself?
She also completed a small art zine titled Body of Earth.
